Fish City, is an award winning, contemporary fish and chip shop in Belfast city centre, winning the best fish and chip shop 2015, and awarded Top 3 Healthy Eating Award UK.

Fish City was the first retailer in Ireland to gain Marine Stewardship Certification (MSC) accreditation for using species of fish from sustainable waters.

Alongside this accreditation Fish City was the first fish and chip shop in the UK to be invited to become silver members of the Marine Conservation Society and hold a 4 blue fish rating from international ‘Fish2Fork’. They were also the first fish and chip shop in Northern Ireland to gain Investors In People, and a silver accreditation with Green Tourism.
Recently shortlisted for the ‘Seafish’ annual awards which are held in London in January each year. Licenced including local artisan beers.

Ethically Fish City stands head and shoulders above the rest in delivering fish and chips in the UK. They have also just been shortlisted into the Top 60 shops in the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award, as part of the 2018 National Fish & Chip Awards, which is a major achievement representing Northern Ireland and competing against the rest of the UK.

Leading the industry as the first retailer in Ireland to gain Marine Stewardship Certification (MSC) accreditation for using species of fish from sustainable waters, John and Grainne Lavery work as a partnership to raise the benchmark of the fish & chip and seafood industry.

Specialising in the highest quality and flavour of their signature dish ‘fish and chips’ John Lavery has created a unique recipe for their batter resulting in one of the most sought-after dishes in the country. The restaurant also provides additional sumptuous fish, chicken and beef dishes, catering for those who may prefer vegetarian, gluten free and vegan recipes, or possibly choosing from the new Fish City Healthy Options menu.

Grainne Lavery manages the restaurant supported by a great team providing a polite and welcoming atmosphere. They focus on providing a dining experience which exceeds expectations, including the takeaway and collection service to those who are unable to avail of the restaurant facilities due to time constraints.

The pair are very much in support of their local environment, gaining a silver accreditation with the International organisation Green Tourism; as well as supporting their local community they chose three charities close to their hearts. These include Fisherman’s Mission, NI Hospice and the RNLI. Hosting regular fundraising events to raise the charity’s profiles and funds for each of these worthwhile causes, their most recent was a free family fun day with the RNLI.

Focusing on the quality of their fish and selection of dishes, Fish City strives to raise awareness on protecting our oceans for future generations and the general wellbeing of our environment and best practice. In doing so, they have continued to win awards which include;
