37 West Café is situated beside the National University of Ireland, Galway on Lower Newcastle Road. The café is very popular in the community and with university students. Their mission is simple, to serve food that guests will want to return to week after week. 37 West Café uses local produce where possible and supports many local suppliers.
The café has signed the Gastronomy Galway 2018 charter and bids to continue to embrace the food heritage that is rich and abundant in the West of Ireland.
The 37 West menu includes breakfast, lunch and of course the deli. From pancakes to burgers, this little café has something for everyone. It even has a little superheroes menu for all their very special customers.
The café is owned by Galway Girl, Gill Carroll. Gill got her training under way in GMIT, getting a degree in Business and Hotel Management. She later moved to Edinburgh and made her first stab at owning a business, setting up the Orchard Bar which is still going strong nearly 10 years later. Gill returned to Ireland and, after some time planning and searching, she set up the famous 37 West in Newcastle. 37 West was launched in 2013 and became famous for 2 things - the words ‘healthy is the new sexy’ and the internationally famous and winner of many to titles.
If you have never tried a famous 37 West Chicken Melt you have not lived. March 18th 2016 marked the café's very first Chicken Melt Day. To celebrate their 3rd birthday, they hosted a fun filled day with free chicken melts and prizes for all their loyal customers and neighbours. This soon became a tradition and March 16th has since been known across Galway as Chicken Melt Day.
The café is also known for its crew members. They regularly have a compliments jar at the till where they hand customers little compliments to make their day extra special. Their tagline, #ourhappyplace, couldn’t be more fitting for this little bubble in Galway. It is a place to get away from all the mayhem for a while and smile until your face hurts a little. The 37 West Crew are committed to working with local communities and charities.
In 2015, 37 West saw the opening of their big sister restaurant in the city centre, 56 Central. 56 Central is located on Shop Street in the Heart of Galway city.
