Achill Isle Walks also cater for days out on the surrounding islands like Clare Island where we walk to the highest point on the island and hear the stories and see the places associated with one of Ireland’s greatest characters, Grace O’Malley or Gráinne Mhaol. Achill Beg is another fascinating Island with a rich archaeological past and poignant history. The walking is relaxed and the scenery excellent. The surrounding ranges of Nephin, Sheeffrys, Maamturks, 12 Bens, the Burren, The Mournes and adjoining areas of Sligo, Donegal and Kerry are also accommodated. A single day or multi days walking are available on request. One of the most popular is walking on Mweelrea which is the highest mountain in Connacht and one of the four Peaks of Ireland. Gerard Mangan is a Fáilte Ireland quailified guide with specialisation in Hillwalking and Local History and qualified in First Aid. Gerard also holds a Diploma in Archaeology from NUI, Galway. Gerard has walked in many parts of Ireland, Europe and the world’s highest mountain ranges. Gerard will ensure that your walk will be at your pace and filled with the local history and culture and take you to areas of outstanding beauty, which are otherwise inaccessible to visitors.
