A member of the 'Made in Sligo' craft trail, Lynda Gault Ceramics is a pottery studio with adjoining shop and is situated beside the Factory Theatre in a pretty little yard off Lower Quay Street in Sligo town.
Lynda Gault Ceramics offers a rare experience to visitors in that while browsing the shop, pottery production can be seen. The studio and shop are separated only by a small partition so all aspects of working can be seen, whether it be throwing on the wheel, finishing or glazing, visitors are welcome to watch and Lynda is always happy to explain the different techniques and processes that she might be working on at the time, and if the wheel is in motion there's the chance of having a go at throwing a pot.
Being in Sligo town, there are many cafes, restaurants and bars close by and there is more than adequate parking with 4 car parks in the immediate vicinity. In the same yard as Lynda Gault Ceramics there is also the renowned sculptor Bettina Seitz and the Factory Performance Space, home of the acclaimed Blue Raincoat Theatre Company and also the Sligo Youth theatre making this an important cultural destination in Sligo.
Lynda is happy to explain any of the techniques and processes that she may be working on at the time when visitors arrive, and in addition to this she runs evening and daytime classes on an ongoing basis with groups of up to 8 at a time. These classes cover many aspects of production including throwing on the wheel, hand-building and decoration.
Open all year Mon.-Sat. from 2pm - 6pm.
