Situated in the picturesque medieval village of Carlingford County Louth, Carlingford Design House is a unique venue showcasing the best of Irish craft. Established by Garrett Mallon, an award winning Irish jeweller, this newly opened venue has become a central hub for creativity in the area. In 2014 he moved his workshop to a purpose built, open to view premises in Carlingford Design House, and here visitors are able to view Garrett creating his work at his jeweller’s bench view and purchase from his extensive jewellery collections on display.
Garrett has a wide ranging array of notable commissions in his portfolio, and there is a dedicated area within Carlingford Design House to showcase some of the exhibition pieces and public commissions he has undertaken. He also undertakes personal commissions for bespoke pieces.
Within his studio Garrett runs a small jewellery school offering short courses and weekend workshops teaching jewellery making skills, with students learning how to make their own pendant and earrings for example. He also runs Make Your Own Wedding Ring workshops for couples who will spend a day with him designing and making their own wedding bands.
