Carne Golf Links lies on the remote and rugged Mullet Peninsula, in the Erris region, in the northwest of County Mayo, an area renowned for its wild and ancient landscape. Set in magnificent, unspoilt sand dunes stretching 150m above sea level, the course boasts breath taking views of the Atlantic across Blacksod Bay as far as the legendary islands of Inis Glóire and Inis Géidhe. The course features 18 amazing holes designed by the late Eddie Hackett, keeping true to his philosophy for respecting the naturally occurring landscape. Carne Golf Links was the last course designed by Hackett and many say it is his most challenging. The back 9 of the Hackett 18 was integrated with the newer Kilmore 9 course, creating the Wild Atlantic Dunes course, which promises increasing drama as the holes weave their way through the awe inspiring corners of the dunes. Carne Golf Links is consistently rated in the top 50 Golf Courses in the UK and Ireland, and in the top golf courses within Ireland. In May 2019, the No Laying Up Tour visited Carne as part of their Ireland tour, rating it as their number one course in Ireland. It was rated the Best Links Course in Connacht for 2021. Carne is renowned for its’ hospitality, and were the first Golf Course in the Republic of Ireland to receive the Irish Golf Tour Operators Association (IGTOA) Quality Assurance Mark for golf courses in Ireland for 2020, and the IGTOA Excellence in Customer Service for Ireland in 2019. Carne Golf Links provides challenging, traditional, raw links golf at its very best, in a truly stunning and idyllic location along the Wild Atlantic Way.
