Dalkey Castle is located in Dublin in the heritage town of Dalkey and has living history actors onsite, ready to welcome visitors.
Dalkey Castle is situated in the picturesque, coastal, heritage town of Dalkey, half an hour south of Dublin. The visitor experience is enhanced by costumed actors who bring the history to colourful life. Try your strength on the Archer’s longbow and sit in the Barber Surgeon’s cart to hear his special offers. The Cook will tempt you with hedgehog pie!
Dalkey Castle (1390) and has all the features of the larger Irish castles. Climb to battlements for panoramic views of sea and mountains. Today, it has a state of the art Heritage Centre with historical information in twelve languages. Visitors can learn about the site’s history from Early Christian through all the eras to the present day.
The Castle also houses a Writers’ Gallery which celebrates the work of great Irish writers and creative artists from Joyce to Bono and Beckett to Maeve Binchy.
These writers are further celebrated in the Maeve Binchy and Irish Writers Guided Walks. Fridays 8th June-7th September at 13.15. Minimum number six.
