Make the most of your time in Belfast on a unique and authentic walking tour with our local expert guides. Our city centre tour ‘A History of Terror’ explores the history of the Troubles and the path to peace and was named the No.4 Experience in the UK in 2019 at the Traveller’s Choice Awards. Starting at Belfast City Hall and covering 7 different locations, this walking tour’s rich and detailed storytelling is a way for visitors to make an emotional connection with Belfast and really understand a dark chapter of the city’s history. Our local expert guides explain why the Troubles started, where some of the most important events of the conflict occurred, how the two communities achieved peace and how the early 1990s ceasefire led to the city’s regeneration. ‘A History of Terror’ is not only recognised as being unbiased, objective and historically accurate, it’s suitable for all visitors, regardless of how much or little you already know of our troubled past. Many of our guests have said how the tour transported them back through time, helping them to understand how far the city has come since those dark days and also see Belfast in a new light, sharing in our hopes for the future and appreciating the progress we have made. Our ‘Best of Belfast’ tour is the perfect introduction to the city, its beautiful architecture, stunning street art, unique history and the amazing stories of its citizens from across the centuries. It also uncludes a free downloadable map with our top 50 favourite places to eat, drink and shop in the city centre. The West Belfast walking tour visits the Catholic Falls Road and Protestant Shankill Road. It explains the Troubles and peace process with stops at the famous murals, memorial gardens and peacewalls between the two communities. Scheduled tours run daily. Private and Group tours are also available. Our 1798 – A Belfast Rebellion is a 2½ hour walking tour within the city centre, uncovering Georgian Belfast and individuals who hoped for a better future. Learn about the United Irishmen in Belfast, the 1798 Rebellion and its suppression. Find out what life was like for the Presbyterians of early Belfast, who were successful merchants but excluded from political influence. We will lead you through the important sites that remain today and introduce you to those who fanned the flames of Rebellion. This tour runs on the first and third Saturday of each month at 10:00 All our tours are all about 2 miles long and take between 2 and 2.5 hours at a gentle pace, and we use tour guide audio systems to ensure you hear your guide clearly at all times. The routes are flat and wheelchair friendly. We are one of only a handful of walking tours in Northern Ireland to be awarded 5 Stars by Tourism NI and our lead guide, Paul Donnelly, was named the UK’s Top Tour Guide at the Wanderlust World Guide Awards.
