After 37 years, 12 studio albums and 2 Grammy awards, the hard rock heavyweights are hanging it up.

After 37 years, 12 studio albums and 2 Grammy awards, hard rock heavyweights Slayer are hanging up their stage shoes and bidding a fond farewell to one heck of a career.

The makers of some of the most brutally aggressive music ever played, Slayer emerged from Huntington Park, CA in 1981 with a hyperactive style of metal the likes of which fans had never seen before. Dubbed 'thrash metal', the band quickly became masters of the genre, tapping their relentless energy and broad palette of topics to lead the heavy metal charge.

Slayer have spent much of their career on the road, playing nearly 3000 shows around the globe in their time, leaving their mark on an entire generation of new bands in their wake. They have graced the covers of hundreds of magazines, released live concert albums and videos, and even had their own exhibition in the Smithsonian Institute. Not band for the west coast four-piece who started life as an Iron Maiden/Judas Priest cover band.

Following the announcement of the band's imminent end, Slayer are embarking on one final world tour to thank fans for more than three and a half decades of support. Be there when they play their final show in Dublin this November.
