See what Ireland has in store for you
Loop Head Lighthouse is an impressive Signature Discovery Point along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way. Perched on a dramatic cliff headland in County Clare, it separates the Shannon Estuary from the roaring Atlantic Ocean. The first tower lighthouse was built in 1802 and underwent many transformations before being automated in 1991. The lighthouse is operated by the Commissioners of Irish Lights and plays a vital role in maritime safety. Visitors are invited to learn about its history, as part of the Great Lighthouses of Ireland initiative. Take a tour and step inside the Lightkeeper’s Cottage to explore interactive exhibits, climb to the Crow’s Nest for a different perspective, and ascend the tower for spectacular views. For an unforgettable escape, enjoy an overnight stay in the Attendant's Cottage.
