OKO make music which has its roots in jazz, but which veers off in a multitude of directions.

OKO is made up of guitarist Shane Latimer, keys player Darragh O’Kelly, drummer Shane O’Donovan, and turntablist Jack McMahon, who previously traded under the name DJackulate. They make a music which has its roots in jazz, but which veers off in a multitude of directions.

The band’s 2014 debut record, I Love Your Computer Mountain, took whatever expectations you might have had about a jazz band and threw them vehemently out the window. It took elements of no wave, skronk, and funk gave them complicated time signatures and situated them in abrasive soundscapes, as well as introducing the wildcard element of McMahon’s turntables.

One of the city’s most exciting groups, OKO’s rare appearances are a must-see for experimental music fans.
