The Yeats Society operates at the Yeats Memorial Building in Sligo Town. It includes the Yeats Photographic Exhibition, the Yeats Art Gallery and a café. The building also serves as the administrative centre of the society.
The Yeats Society was founded in Sligo in 1958 to commemorate and honour the memory of W.B. Yeats. It also works to promote appreciation of his poetry and other writings and an awareness of the other members of this talented family.
The society operates from the Yeats Memorial Building in the very centre of Sligo Town, overlooking the River Garavogue. The building is the administrative centre of the society and houses the Yeats Photographic Exhibition, the Yeats Art Gallery and a café.
The library provides reading and learning space for students who wish to consult its unique collection of books and to listen to and view the DVD collection of lectures given at Yeats Summer Schools over more than 40 years. Throughout the year, a varied programme of lectures, events, visits and activities take place including the Winter School (held in January) and the International Summer School (held in August).
Members and the public may avail of the Yeats library, art gallery and café and can also attend lectures, poetry readings and outings.
