Light house cottage is situated in the picturesque harbour area of Newcastle County Down. Newcastle is a wonderful small town, nestled just below the magnificent Mourne Mountains and by Dundrum Bay, an inlet for the Irish Sea.
This lovely little house has been in the Polland family since the 1970s and until recently was used as a family home. It is now used as a holiday home and will be of interest to anyone wanting to visit the County Down coastal area, anyone wanting to walk or hike in the mountains, or anyone who is interested in finding out about the flora and fauna of County Down and anyone who is interested in the history of Ulster.
Newcastle is surrounded by an abundance of areas of outstanding beauty, Tollymore Forest Park and the park in Castlewellan to name two as examples. The iconic Game of Thrones, well known for its spectacular settings, has been filmed in some of the surrounding areas. Historic Downpatrick is only 13 miles away and is definitely a must see for visitors to County Down.
Getting to Newcastle is quite straight forward; Belfast is only 30 miles away and Dublin is 70 miles. Both places are easily accessible, with good roads and public transport.
For those who enjoy eating out, Newcastle has an excellent variety of restaurants, catering for all tastes and budgets. On the other hand, if you enjoy creating and preparing your own meals, local produce is on hand in excellent supermarkets, specialist food shops and convenient local shops.
