Not just a pretty face: Kiefer Sutherland's hefty musical chops have seen him sell out shows from Europe to North America.
Not just a pretty face: Kiefer Sutherland's hefty musical chops have seen him sell out shows from Europe to North America. Digging deep into his well-stocked bag of tricks, Sutherland has produced a new career as a country music touring and recording artist, delighting long-time fans, who have hailed his efforts as "refreshingly honest."
Perhaps it's not surprising; after all, talent runs deep in the Sutherland family. His mother Shirley Douglas is a legend of Canadian TV, film and stage while his father is the celebrated Donald Sutherland, recently of The Hunger Games fame and with decades in the entertainment business.
With his own number of decades on the silver screen, Sutherland's latest turn shows the grizzled, poignant side of the entertainer; 2016's album Down In A Hole evokes some of the bluest work from legends like Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson whilst touching a universally authentic note with fans, who have crowded out shows from Glastonbury to Stagecoach and the Grand Ole Opry to get a look in.
See just what all the fuss is about when he plays The Academy stage in Dublin this June.
