O'Riain Pottery is situated 3 kilometres from the town of Ballymote on your way to Gurteen in South County Sligo. Potter John makes functional stoneware pottery and one off Raku pieces, drawing inspiration from the surrounding rural landscape.
O'Riain Pottery in Ballymote County Sligo is located in a beautiful rural landscape home to the caves of Keash on Keash mountain and the bogs and farmland. The simplicity and beauty of this landscape inspires potter John's work.
The studio and showroom are open to the public all year round monday to Saturday 9am-6pm with plenty of car parking available and toilet facilities which are wheelchair friendly. John is allways on hand to ask questions about the making process and happy to engage in questions about all things pottery.
Kids are welcome and invited to have a go if they don't mind getting a little dirty. John's work is on sale in the showroom where he displays his three ranges of stoneware pottery including his 'Bog Cotton' range and his one off 'Raku lovebirds' and ceramic angels.
Classes and weekend courses are run all year round. Visitors can visit their creative side through the medium of clay and learn different techniques of making pottery including wheel throwing, slab building, coil building and other methods.
O'Riain Pottery is a member of the 'Made in Sligo' craft group.
