Rostam Batmanglij — known mononymously by his first name — will play a midnight show at The Workman’s Club this June.
While Rostam only released his first solo album, Half-Light, last year, he has a huge catalogue of music behind. He helped make three albums as a songwriter, producer, and keyboard player in Vampire Weekend, and an excellent collaborative album with Hamilton Leithauser of The Walkmen that came out in 2016.
Half-Light is lengthy exploration of numerous musical ideas that Rostam had been tinkering with through his years in Vampire Weekend and beyond. The album features his signature ornate arrangements and instrumentation from around the musical world from sitars to string quartets, as well as lyrical explorations of his own identity as a queer man born to immigrants in the USA.
This is his first Irish solo date and promises to be one not miss.
