An Dúanai Mara Charters offers deep sea fishing, shark angling and sightseeing trips in Donegal Bay, County Donegal. It is one of the most picturesque stretches of coastline in Ireland.
Creevy Pier is lined by beautiful rugged cliffs, rocky outlets and sea inlets and offers some of the finest sea angling in Europe. Angling can be had within ten minutes sail from Creevy Pier. An Dúanai Mara Charters offers some of the best deep sea fishing in the north Atlantic. The waters surrounding the south west coast of Donegal flourish with over twenty different species of fish. Cod, ling, pollack, mackerel, coalfish, haddock, halibut, wrasse, conger, rays, blue shark and the occasional mako, are just some of the many species caught.
The skipper, Brian McGilloway, has many years experience with fishing charters and is extremely well acquainted with the various fishing grounds of the area. Brian is an active member of the Killybegs Sea Angling Club and is also affiliated with the North West Charter Skippers Association.
Although An Dúanai Mara Charters main function is sea angling, they also provide sightseeing trips. There are many areas of special interest within the bay from Mullaghmore to Inishmurray Island and Rathlin O’Beirne Island, where seals can be seen basking on the rocks. There is also the ever popular Sliabh Liag. The cliffs of Sliabh Liag rise dramatically out of the ocean to a height of 601 metres (1972 feet) and thus lay claim to being the highest sea cliffs in Europe. Depending on tides, local conditions and customer preferences, the boat is available to depart from Creevy Pier, Killybegs Harbour or Teelin Pier.
The vessel is a 33ft Aquastar powered by a 305 horse power Cummins engine, allowing a cruising speed of 14 - 16 knots. She is fitted with all the standard electronics and carries all the regulatory safety equipment in accordance with Irish law. There are galley and lavatory facilities on board.
Dedicated self-catering accommodation is available, each sleeping six. Award winning traditional stone cottages, each with separate washing, drying and freezing facilities. Cottages are the first in Ireland to be accredited with the EU Eco Flower Label for commitment to the environment. Bait storage also available.
