Queen's University, Belfast

A lively cultural hub with delicious restaurants and cafés around every corner, and home to the Titanic, the 'Ship of Dreams' – dazzle your Instagram followers with these beautiful shots of Belfast

Belfast Castle (@sergiu.cc)

One of the many castles on the island of Ireland, Belfast Castle is truly spectacular up close. Nestled at the bottom of Cave Hill, the castle overlooks Belfast Lough and the city, so wherever you turn, there’s always another great view to capture on camera. Built in the 12th century, the castle was home to the Shaftesbury family before they generously donated it to Belfast city in the 1900s. Now, you can visit and dine at the two restaurants on site, try orienteering in the extensive grounds or use it as the start of your climb to the top of Cave Hill!

Belfast city centre (@mgdlnvlgr)

Lively is one of the many words that can be used to describe Belfast city centre, and it’s one of the most accurate. As soon as you step into the city, you’re surrounded by colourful characters, catchy trad tunes, and enticing aromas from the many great restaurants and cafés that call Belfast home. Experience a blend of old and new at some of the city's brilliant pubs, such as the Crown Liquor Saloon, still decorated with the original, ornate 19th century tiles and woodwork. Warning – in Belfast you’ll find it hard to choose what to take a picture of first!

Botanic Gardens (@omargiannotta)

Open since 1828, the Botanic Gardens in Belfast are a landmark in the city, so they're a must-see when you visit. The gardens offer year-round delights, but the best time to visit has to be in the spring and summer to appreciate the dazzling display of flowers in bloom. Head to the Palm House with its iconic white dome roof, where you'll find a selection of tropical plants and birds of paradise. You can also visit the Tropical Ravine, which contains some of the oldest seed plants in the world. So, have your camera at the ready to capture these exotic beauties!

Cave Hill Belfast (@ciarandoylephotography)

Some sights take your breath away, but Cave Hill is in a class of its own. Defining the landscape of Belfast, some of the dramatic ridges are a tough climb even for seasoned walkers so take note before you start your hike. It is said that one of Cave Hill's most famous features, known as "Napoleon’s Nose", inspired Jonathan Swift in his writing of "Gulliver’s Travels" because of its resemblance to a sleeping giant. As you walk along waymarked walking trails, you’ll pass by heaths, moors and archaeological sites, before you reach the top for those breathtaking views.

Titanic Quarter (@danielsmythni)

Resting where the Titanic was built more than a hundred years ago, the immersive experience at Titanic Belfast will stay with you long after you leave. Explore interactive galleries and discover artefacts from ‘The Ship of Dreams’. The Titanic Quarter is also home to the SS Nomadic, the last surviving White Star Line Ship in the world. While you're here, you can drop into the TEC, now home to the Game of Thrones® touring exhibition, where you can see key props and costumes from the show. Whatever you choose to visit, you’ll have no trouble finding great shots to amaze your followers!

Blackhead Lighthouse (@evan_shelly)

Situated at the north shore entrance of Belfast Lough, this lighthouse was completed in 1902 and was vital for guiding boats and vessels coming to and from the busy shipyards in Belfast, including the Titanic. It is one of 70 lighthouses that operate along Ireland’s coastlines, and until 1975 was occupied by professional lightkeepers. Now, visitors can occupy their time walking along coastal paths, heading towards the nearby town of Whitehead, or walking further along the coast to the Gobbins cliff path. Afterwards, stay at the lightkeeper's house and wake up to the panoramic views and gorgeous sunrises.
