Skellig Pottery is a small gallery and workshop making handmade coastal inspired ceramics. It is run by Julia Clarke who hand builds her unique pieces on the premises before decorating using handmade stamps, stencils and coastal coloured glazes.
Skellig Pottery is located just off the Wild Atlantic Way and Ring of Kerry driving routes. Its owner Julia hand makes coastal inspired ceramics ranging from little fish bowls and unique wall pieces as well as framed and unframed Skellig Michael pictures. Everything is made on the premises and offers the public something to suit every budget. She occasionally incorporates quotes from poems or sayings relating to the ocean into her pieces and also uses handmade stamps and stencils to decorate before glazing in a range of coastal coloured glazes.
A visit to this little gallery and workshop is a must for anyone travelling or staying in the area to experience a real working pottery studio. Julia can be found every Sunday selling her ceramics at the Ballinskelligs country market at Café Cois Tra. Classes for small groups can be arranged if contacted in advance.
Julia is a member of Original Kerry, a group that promotes Original Kerry based crafts and is part of the Original Kerry craft trails. Her work is for sale at Gallery One in Caherciveen.
