The High Hopes Community Choir is Ireland’s first homeless choir.
The High Hopes Community Choir is Ireland’s first homeless choir. It was assembled in 2014 by David Brophy, with help from Carmel Whelan and Glenn Alexander. The idea behind High Hopes is to improve the lives of the people involved through choral singing, as so many homeless people are deprived of communal activities that are often taken for granted. It also helps to change the public’s perceptions of homeless people.
This new presentation, Home, includes choral music as well as theatre, spoken word, poetry performances, and visual art all revolving around how the evening’s theme, home, fits with the reality of homelessness.
Home is an uplifting and thought-provoking performance concerning one of the key social issues of modern day Dublin.
