The Half-Door Club International Music and Set Dance Festival is a four-day event of the set-dancing and traditional music that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
The Half-Door Club International Music and Set Dance Festival is a four-day event of set-dancing and traditional music that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Hosted in Castletown, Mountrath in County Laois, the event features five céilithe across the festival. On Friday, the Brian Ború Céilí Band will perform, on Saturday it’s the turn of the 10-piece Shandrum Céilí Band who are three-time and current All-Ireland champions.
On Sunday, both the Swallow’s Tail Céilí Band and the Abbey Céilí Band will perform, while on Monday afternoon, the Johnny Reidy Céilí Band will provide the music. If you're heading along to the céilithe, there will be free tea, sandwiches, cakes and tarts available for you to enjoy.
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will also feature set dance workshops with teachers from the Half-Door Club and around the country, as well as sean-nós singing.
As a celebration of Irish culture, you’ll get few experiences more authentic than this long weekend of music and dance.
