Newtownhamilton, known in Irish as Baile Úr meaning ‘new town,’ is a small village in the south of County Armagh.
The village takes its name from Alexander Hamilton, a descendant of the John Hamilton from Scotland who founded Hamiltonsbawn in 1619. The village is built around a narrow Main Street and it hosts a weekly cattle market.
Nearby attractions include the Fews Forest and Carrigatuke Viewpoint, which offers panormanic views of the surrounding countryside.
