The bedrooms at Shelburne Lodge are located between the 1740s lodge and the secluded coach house overlooking the beautiful garden and grass tennis court. Each of the 10 rooms has its own charm, splendid local art, individually furnished with antiques and polished old wooden floors. Owner Tom is a wonderful historian and his knowledge is extraordinary. You can enjoy breakfast cooked by Maura, a renowned award winning restaurateur and chef who uses the finest local produce, all served in the large and well-appointed dining room. Maura offers sumptuous food with daily specials including fresh fish of the day and a dish of the day in addition to her breakfast menu. Maura has been cooking since her teenage years and has had much acclaim and awards throughout her years in business in Kenmare. Restaurants Maura ran and established include The Purple Heather, The Lime Tree & Packie’s where she received much recognition and awards including Michelin Bib Gourmand, Red M and Irish Chef of the Year to name a few.

Maura’s sister Gráinne runs the Purple Heather on Henry Street in Kenmare, a renowned bar and bistro. Established in 1961 by Maura and her mother Agnes the bistro serves food during the day including salads, soups, seafood soup, pate’s, fresh sandwiches, omelettes and delicious homemade desserts.
