Kildare Monastic Driving Trail tell the story of the rich monastic heritage of three of Ireland's most famouse saints, Patrick, Bridget and Colmcille, as it takes you on tour of eight monastical sites, many dating back over 1500 years.

Follow the 92 km driving trail from Castledermot to Oughterard near Straffan . County Kildare is at the heart of the story of Christianity in Ireland, and some of Ireland's most famous saints like Brigid, Colmcille and Patrick have strong links with the county.

Kildare Monastic Driving trail leads to the atmospheric ruins of ancient monasteries, where it is possible encounter some of Ireland's best preserved round towers, panel by panel descriptions of high crosses and fascinating tales of history and folklore that many dates back over 1500 years to the earliest origins of Christianity in Ireland.
