The Royal Canal Greenway is a 130km long-distance walking and cycling trail. Flat underfoot, it follows the towpath of the canal from Dublin's docklands to Clondra, County Longford. This pleasant leg of the Royal Canal Greenway unfolds from the County Meath/Westmeath border and connects Abbeyshrule, Ballynacarrigy, Ballina and Mullingar over a three-hour trail. Verdant and tranquil, this easy linear greenway is a haven of peace and charming natural beauty. At the towns and villages of Abbeyshrule, Ballynacarrigy, Ballina and Mullingar, you’ll find welcoming spots for refreshment on your trail - some even on the water itself.
