See what Ireland has in store for you
The Lemon Leaf Café serves well-priced food made from local produce in a relaxing atmosphere. As well as the standard fare of scones, soups and sandwiches, the menu has an international flair serving American pancakes, feuille de brique, Croque Monsieur madame and spicy chicken bagels to name but a few. The Café supports local producers with meat from Lordans in Ballinspittle, Durrus cheese, Clonakilty Black pudding, free range eggs from Beechwood Farm and Katie’s Bandon chocolates – including the very popular sticky hot chocolate. An old fashioned bell even tinkles over the door as you enter this oasis of calm that is the perfect location for a leisurely coffee, a light lunch or for that matter an indulgent afternoon of chai lattes and cakes. Take your pick of the comfy sofas, bar counter seating or cow hide covered benches. And, if you’re one of our younger customers, we have pint sized tables with you in mind too. Alternatively settle yourself in the calming outdoor courtyard against a backdrop of the old arched walls, faded red brick work and natural rock face. The Lemon Leaf Café takes pride in good fresh produce and try to make everything healthy, especially the kids menu which includes lasagne and fish cakes. Takeaway are available to accommodate peoples busy schedules. While the Lemon Leaf make most of their own confectionery, they also serve delicious cupcakes by “Sweet Sensations” who specialise in celebration and novelty cakes. These can be ordered from the friendly and attentive staff at the Lemon Leaf. At the Lemon Leaf Café, it’s all about the coffee. There’s a little chalkboard on the shelf above the coffee machine, letting you know when the coffee you’re drinking was ground. Ariosa are Irish coffee roasters based in Ashbourne in County Meath. They buy the coffee directly from the growers and are thus assured that they are paid fairly. The Lemon Leaf is the only café in Cork serving Ariosa. When you’re used to the best…you can buy the retail bags to have at home. Don’t forget to check out G’s Jams and all the other artisan products on the shelves of our food store. The Lemon Leaf is open 7 days a week and is proud to serve the community and beyond with the finest roasted coffee, food celebrating seasonal bounty, WiFi access and most especially a space for ideas and conversation to grow.
