See what Ireland has in store for you
Waiting to be explored in the lush green countryside of Wexford in the cornerstone of Ireland's Ancient East is Wells House and Gardens. Both the house and gardens were designed by renowned architect Daniel Robertson in the 1830s, he introduced features like the Terrace Gardens, Radiating Parterre, Arboretum and Main Avenue. His work in the terraced garden and woodland walks give visitors the ideal opportunity to enjoy the space and setting of this stunning Victorian estate. Hear the stories of the people who lived and worked in Wells House on our “living” house tour as your Victorian Tour Guide introduces you to the estate and it’s 400 year history, including the stories of the servants and to the Doyne family who owned the estate for over 265 years. The Victorian Terrace Gardens were created in a formal design, based on Robertson’s original plans. The estate features two woodland walks; the Lady Frances Woodland Walk and the Mogue’s Walk, both containing hidden treasures in a verdant landscape of mature plants and trees. Browse through our Craft Courtyard located in the old stable block or make new friends at our animal farm and falconry centre! Book a Hawk Walk with our resident falconer and learn more of this magnificent ancient sport! An adventure playground for children boasts swings, slides and climbing frames, conveniently located next to the picnic area. At Wells House Archery, the resident archer can demonstrate how to shoot a bow on our 3D archery course set deep in the woodland of Wells! Light snacks, refreshments and lunches are served from Mrs Stone’s along with home baked treats, all made by our team of chefs and sourced using local artisan suppliers. A range of events take place throughout the year and across the summer holidays like our Classic Car Show, Open Air Theatre and Festival of Entertainment making Wells House and Gardens the ideal destination to visit when in Wexford. Wells House and Gardens...A Great House and Gardens, A Grand Adventure for all!
