See what Ireland has in store for you
The River Drowes is around five miles long with over 70 pools. It flows from Lough Melvin and enters the sea just outside Bundoran in County Donegal. The river is a good spring and summer salmon fishery, producing over 1,000 fish a year. Sea trout only run in small numbers but it holds good stocks of brown trout. Lough Melvin is a beautiful unspoilt lough famous for the diversity and number of salmon that inhabit it. The Lough has salmon, char, brown trout, gillaroo, ferox and sonaghan. The sonaghan is sub species of brown trout that only occurs in Lough Melvin. This little fish, although only growing to around 2.5lb, puts up a great fight.
