Rosapenna Hotel and Golf Resort is a splendid property situated along the water’s edge near Downings, County Donegal. The four-star hotel, which dates back to 1893, is family owned and operated, and offers guests friendly service and wonderful accommodation. The hotel has a range of room types, including classic, family and deluxe rooms as well as suites for added space and luxury. All are furnished to a high standard and include TV, telephone, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, refrigerator, toiletries, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Rosapenna is home to two 18-hole championship links golf courses; with the Old Tom Morris Links and the newer Sandy Hills Links, both of which are open to visitors. There is also an on-site leisure centre with 15 metre indoor heated pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, all for the exclusive use of hotel residents. After a day of golf or touring the region, visitors can treat themselves to fantastic food and drink at the hotel’s Vardon Restaurant, named in honour of professional golfer Harry Vardon, who visited Rosapenna in 1906. The restaurant, which serves breakfast, dinner and Sunday lunch, specialises in local seafood, with freshly caught lobster, scallops and crab often on the menu. For a quick snack or round of drinks, people can also drop into the Old Tom Morris Bar, which is open daily and regularly features live music. The hotel is situated 16 miles from Glenveagh National Park as well as on a safe, sheltered bay ideal for water sports with a four mile sandy beach affording views across to Ards and Muckish Mountain.
