Jimmy’s Hall is a feel-good tale about a Leitrim man who was deported from his own country and sent into exile in the United States.

Jimmy’s Hall is a feel-good tale about a Leitrim man who was deported from his own country and sent into exile in the United States.

The true story of Jimmy Gralton, a Leitrim farmer and socialist, has previously been told in film by Ken Loach of the same name. This summer, it returns to the Abbey Stage under the direction of Graham McLaren after a successful run last summer.

The story tells of how Gralton built a dancehall which becomes a problem for the local church and political leaders.

Full of song, dance, and rebellion, Jimmy’s Hall is a tale of an endurance of the human spirit.
