The Brazen Head

Dating back to 1198, The Brazen Head is one of Ireland's oldest pubs. Although it is unclear how much of the original 11th century coach house is still intact, there is a palpable sense of history within its walls. James Joyce referenced The Brazen Head in 'Ulysses'. Amongst the literary and historic giants associated with this pub were Brendan Behan, Jonathan Swift and the revolutionaries, Robert Emmet and Wolfe Tone. Take some time to absorb the historic prints and scrolls which are displayed on the walls inside. Enjoy live music and wholesome food in any of the pubs 3 cosy rooms, or during the summertime you can soak up the atmosphere in the enclosed cobblestone courtyard.
