Best known for his role in the 1916 Easter Rising, James Connolly was a leading Trade Unionist, Socialist and Republican and an iconic figure in Irish history. The Centre hosts an exhibition which tells the story of Connolly from his birth in Edinburgh in 1868 to his death in Dublin in 1916. The James Connolly Experience | Eispéireas Uí Chonghaile Immerse yourself in the life, times and politics of James Connolly! The James Connolly Experience is an audio tour which will guide you from the interactive exhibition, which tells Connolly’s story, to the unique library, Leabharlann Uí Chonghaile and through the art and historic collections. Lasting approximately 40 minutes, the tour will introduce you to many interactive features and historic artefacts and will immerse you in the story of James Connolly as you make your way through the Centre. The trail takes visitors on a tour of the city, stopping at some of the most historically significant sites associated with James Connolly while exploring Belfast’s political, industrial, feminist and working class history and the city's role in shaping Ireland for the next 100 years.
