"Irelands longest running and greatest gourmet extravaganza” – The Rough Guide, ’50 things to do before you die’. A three day food festival celebrating oysters, seafood and our local heritage incorporating the World Oyster Opening Championships.
Throughout the three day Irish food festival, there are lots of tantalising events for all to enjoy.
Throughout the city, for gourmets, there are Seafood trails, Foodie talks, Cooking demonstrations and tasting events in some of Galway’s best restaurants.
The main events are held within the Festival Marquee on Galway's Nimmo's Pier. Meet and make new friends sampling the Native Galway Oyster, watching the traditional 'Galway Hooker' sailboats parade by as sunset approaches and live music plays.
The Irish National and World Oyster Opening (shucking) Championships take place on the Friday and Saturday.
A feature event on the Saturday night is the Mardi Gras style Gala and Dinner - in masquerade if you wish.
Sunday is free of charge focussing on child-friendly family activities, heritage talks and demonstrations.
