The Heart of the Glens Festival is based in Cushendall in the beautiful Glens of Antrim, on the famous Causeway Coastal route on the Antrim Coast. The festival runs from 1 – 9 August and provides a fun packed programme of over 100 events throughout the 9 day period.
The large variety of events include the Community Opening Parade showcasing our community spirit with over 20 of our community groups along with local businesses taking part. Approx. 90 lorries join the parade and of course we also have our children in fancy dress and free entertainment at the end of the parade. Our main events include the famous Lurig Challenge Run which is limited to 400 participants, Food Fest night, Adult Treasure Hunt, the ever popular ‘Theme’ fancy dress night (check FB for details) and the Vintage Family Fun Day is also an old time favourite. The ‘Dalriada Sounds’ concert has grown from strength to strength and showcases the talent both of the locals and invited guests from other areas with dancing, music, singing and poetry. We also have a variety of children’s workshops, heritage walks, storytelling, quizzes and a mixture of entertainment throughout the week to suit all ages finishing with the Grand Finale Ceili with displays of Irish Dancing and music and Ireland’s longest Waves of Tory!
Great 9 days entertainment of fun and craic. Come along and join us with our full programme of events – you’ll not be disappointed!
