This sweeping drive will introduce you to the natural features that gave The Golden Vale its evocative name.
The Golden Vale Drive (orange route) takes in Limerick City, Pallasgreen, Emly, Galbally, Ballylanders, Kilfinane, Bruree, Bruff, Holycross, Lough Gur and Ballyneety. A distance of 112km (70 miles), approximately.
The signposted driving route weaves through picturesque villages and towns such as Pallasgreen and Emly before arriving at Kilfinane, a small market town surrounded by the Ballyhoura Mountains; the largest mountain bike trail network of its kind in Ireland. From Kilfinane, continue to the walled town of Kilmallock where rich architectural heritage is evident in its many national monuments, museum and history trail. Continue to Lough Gur, famous for its many archaeological sites before returning to Limerick City via Ballyneety. The audio tour is unique in bringing the heritage of the area to life and offers much more than just a historical database of information.
