K-FEST, a dynamic arts festival with an emphasis on emerging artists, uses unoccupied spaces in Killorglin, Co. Kerry, transforming vacant retail outlets, deserted buildings, and even domestic homes into curated bespoke pop-up galleries and venues over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
Organised by a group of passionate and committed artists, business people, educators, and volunteers from all walks of life, the K-FEST team hosts more than 50 events in addition to the gallery trail, including live music performances by dozens of up-and-coming bands and musicians, as well as spoken word, drama, comedy, short films, street entertainment, and activities for kids and families.
The festival is also home to the Screaming Pope Prize, exclusively organised by artists for artists. Given for a single outstanding work of visual art each year, the award is a self-funded, not-for-profit initiative, with the ultimate vision of celebrating and establishing emerging visual artists.
K-FEST aims for cultural innovation and artistic exploration, as well as for showcasing fun, eclectic, and thought-provoking events while setting and maintaining high production standards across all our programmes.
