The Irish Georgian Society, Maynooth University and the National Museum of Ireland are partnering to deliver a symposium on silver in Ireland during the Georgian era.

Suitable for both a general audience and specialists alike, the symposium will seek to offer a variety of perspectives on one of Dublin’s foremost artisanal trades during an era when new commodities and technologies were transforming the market for luxury goods. Established and emerging scholars will explore the Ireland in which silver objects were fashioned, what purpose they served, and what styles they observed.

As well as a series of talks, there will also be an opportunity to tour the National Museum’s unrivalled display of Irish silver from the Georgian period.
