NI’s premier chamber music event, featuring top international artists and amazing local musicians.

The International Festival of Chamber Music is Northern Ireland’s premier chamber music event, presenting top international classical musicians alongside outstanding local artists in three days of world-class concerts and recitals.

This year’s artists include the Amatis Piano Trio, rising stars from Europe; the London Haydn Quartet, one of the world’s leading period-instrument quartets; renowned violinist Isabelle van Keulen; and Leon McCawley, one of Britain’s foremost pianists. Mozart is the focus of this year’s festival, but the wide-ranging programme also includes Schumann, Shostakovich, Brahms, Chopin, and a new work by NI composer Deirdre Gribbin.

There’s something for everyone, including the youngest audiences. ‘Chamber Babies’ offers short, informal concerts for babies up to 18 months old and their mums and dads in the Crescent Arts Centre, presented by local professional musicians. You can enjoy coffee and cake before or after the performance in the Crescent’s café, too, or take in the latest art exhibition in the upstairs gallery.

The main concerts take place in the intimate surroundings of Queen’s University’s Harty Room*, with its celebrated acoustic and beautiful beamed ceiling. The lunchtime recital and masterclass are based in QUB’s Sonic Lab, a more contemporary concert venue. All performances (except the lunchtime concert) include complimentary interval refreshments. Free parking is available at both venues from Friday evening onwards, and there is disabled access.

*Entrance to the Harty Room is on University Square (parking is to the rear of the building).
