Craggaunowen, the Living Past Experience, interprets Ireland’s pre-historic and early Christian eras. Ancient homesteads and artefacts from over 1.000 years ago are recreated on this 50 acre site, in Quin County Clare. Explore a crannog, ringfort, medieval castle and the Brendan Boat.
The Brendan Boat is a leather hulled boat built by Tim Severin and sailed by him and his crew across the Atlantic in 1976/1977. This hazardous voyage re-enacted the route reputedly taken by St. Brendan and the early Christian monks who are said to have reached North America centuries before Columbus.
Enjoy the fresh Clare air and lake walks set in an enjoyable rural setting. Or why not savour wonderful home made fare in the charming farmhouse tearoom.
