Liscarroll, Cork, Republic of Ireland
Liscarroll Castle was built in the 13th century by the De Barrys, possibly by David Og de Barry. The Castle is a large square in shape with rounded turrets at each corner. It is located in Liscarroll, County Cork.
The entrance was through the south wall, where there is a large oblong tower with a long passage which was closed by a heavy door and which possibly had a portcullis. This tower was heavily modified in the 15th or 16th century around 1625 when it was taken by Lord Castlehaven for the Irish. In Cromwellian times it was returned to the Percevals.
