Kathleen McCormick began making baskets 14 years ago and has continued doing so ever since. Studying with numerous teachers of basketry gave her the confidence to do bespoke commissions. Situated at the junction near Longwood, Co. Meath where the Royal Canal crosses over the River Boyne.

Her unique selling points are that every basket in her studio is made from home grown willow, grown on her farm and made by her. The client can ask her to do whatever they need and she will try to make it. She is available at all times o her mobile phone or e-mail and recently had a website made.

“Prepare to be wowed”! Kathleen does one on one lessons and the client or student achieves their own hand made item which is a treasure to take home.

There is parking for several cars but not buses which is more intimate and selective. People are always welcome and they will be shown where the willow grows in the field, view the animals, perhaps select a basket, or receive a few eggs for their tea. She welcome visitors whether they buy something or not, because Kathleen likes people to know about willow and the weaving process.

Although Kathleen usually teaches on a one to one basis, she also teaches groups of up to 7 or 8 at venues further afield. She also teaches at “The Grocery” in TyrrellsPass and in schools too. Kathleen has two floor looms to weave fabric and spin raw fleece, as well as dye it with natural dyes. There is so much for anyone interested in crafts and she loves to show people as many as they show an interest in.
