The UCD Centre for Gender, Feminisms, and Sexualities is hosting its first annual conference, titled Thinking Gender Justice, this May in the UCD campus in Belfield.

The Centre for Gender, Feminisms, and Sexualities focuses on the changing construction of gender, gender relations, theories of power, and identity both historically and in contemporary society.

These are areas of study that are changing often and with great speed, but are also vital to understanding the politics of the modern world in terms of the popularity of right wing movements in the United States and Europe, ethnic conflicts, and a resurgence in nationalism as a reaction to the forces of globalisation and neo-liberalism.

Keynote speakers at his conference will include Professor Inderpal Grewal from Yale University’s Chair of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; Brigid Quilligan, a travellers’ rights activist and manager of Kerry Travellers Health and Community Development Project; and Harsha Walia, an activist and author of Undoing Border Imperialism amongst other projects.
