Glendalough Hostel is a very popular all ensuite hostel on the famous Wicklow Way walk. Glendalough Hostel is in one of Ireland's most beautiful visitors' destinations, it is set in a wooded valley amid spectacular countryside.
Glendalough International is set on the Wicklow Way and next to the National Park surrounded by stunning scenery. It is part of the Irish Youth Hostel Association which emphasises safety and security in budget accommodation for youth travellers and groups.
Glendalough International Youth Hostel was extended in the 1980s from a local lodge known as Swiss Cottage in between the monastic city and the double lake of the valley. Glendalough Hostel has become one of the most popular hostels due to its prime location near the Wicklow National Park and the world famous Monastic site. The area is great for walking due to the 9 waymarked trails in the valley which range from 45 minutes to 4 hours.
Heritage hunters are also attracted by the rich history of the round towers, churches and deserted mines which are found in the valley.
The Glendalough International Youth Hostel is a two-storey wheelchair friendly building which can accommodate visitors in a variety of ensuite rooms that surround an enclosed courtyard. It has a well-equipped self-catering kitchen and dining room. For groups of 10 or more meals are available at reasonable prices. Parking is free for guests, as is bed linen.
There is also a lounge with open fire and games. Guests return year after year to Glendalough International Youth Hostel due to its unique location, cosy atmosphere and wealth of exploration routes nearby. This hostel is open all year round.
