In the Republic of Ireland only foreign students who are currently enrolled in a third-level course or studying a course of at least six months duration, with a minimum 20 hours class time per week, can avail of the student travel card.
You can find out how and where to buy the Student Travel Card on the website . The Travel Card is applicable for Dart, Irish Rail, Dublin Bus and Luas services.
There are special rates for children under 16. You can review all Dart and Irish Rail fares on their website .
For those visiting and travelling in Northern Ireland there is a Translink Student Discount Card. The card is only available to those currently enrolled in a full-time course in either the Republic of Ireland or Great Britain.
Concessions
Many attractions such as theatres, cinemas, clothing stores and museums offer concessions to school or college students. Their websites will usually specify whether they offer concessions and what the discount is. In some cases the ticket will need to be bought directly from the point of purchase to avail of a concession. A student card bearing photo and date of birth will be required when seeking a concession.
Car rental age requirements
Age requirements will vary when seeking to rent a car in Ireland. All car rental companies will feature the information in the Terms and Conditions section on their website.
