Every year on St Patrick’s Day, cities and people across the globe deck themselves out in forty shades of green, and the Global Greenings illuminate over 180 iconic international landmarks to match.

From rivers and pets to milkshakes and candyfloss, on this special day, everything turns emerald. But there’s nowhere quite like the island of Ireland for a party – and when it comes to our patron saint, we go all out.

There are only two kinds of people in the world, the Irish and those who wish they were.

The four-day St Patrick’s Festival in Dublin, hailed by Lonely Planet as the “mother of all Irish festivals”, is a whirlwind of traditional music, dance, street theatre and food, as well as a stellar parade complete with award-winning performers. And that’s just a taste of what goes on around the island.

St Patrick's Day around Ireland

Dingle in County Kerry kicks things off with the earliest parade at 6am and from then it’s non-stop! Free parades and carnivals take place in almost every city, town and village, with Armagh, Cork, Belfast, Galway and Derry~Londonderry hosting tens of thousands of revelers.

So why not take advantage of Ireland’s hundred thousand welcomes and join in the festivities this St Patrick’s Day? And if you can’t make it, don’t worry – we’re already planning next year…

Beannachtaí Lá Fhéile Phádraig daoibh go léir – Happy St Patrick’s Day!
