Westport House & Pirate Adventure Park

Westport House is one of Ireland's most beautiful and historic homes. Built in 1730 on the ruins of a former castle of legendary Irish pirate queen Grace O'Malley and complete with original architecture and antiques. It is still home to her direct descendants, the 11th Marquess of Sligo and his family. Within Westport House there are 30 rooms, entrance halls and dungeons on show, plus three comprehensive exhibitions, including Ireland’s foremost exhibition on pirate queen Grace O’Malley and a waxworks display of Ireland’s leading writers, artists and musicians who visited Westport House. The house has its original contents and also some fascinating antiquities such as a 4,000 year old Greek sarcophagus, a cannon from the Spanish Armarda and furniture from the Tudor period. Stunning scenery, architectural magnificence, beautifully manicured gardens and a Pirate Adventure Park combine with a remarkable history that encompasses Ireland’s notorious pirate queen, rebellions, slavery and famine, to provide a treasure trove of memorable, awe - inspiring and fun experiences for all age groups.

Westport House’s Pirate Adventure Park is a treasure trove of family fun. With a plethora of fun packed thrill rides and attractions, including Ireland’s first log flume ‘ The Pirates’ Plunge ’ and a pirate ship galleon ‘ Thrills ‘n Chills ’ ride, a magical train journey, indoor soft play area, pitch and putt, swan pedal boats, slippery dip slide and beautiful gardens, not to mention hundreds of years of local history contained within the walls of Westport House with its spooky dungeons. There is something for everyone, young or old, to enjoy.
Parkland Caravan & Camping Park::
For those wishing to stay for longer, Westport House has a large onsite caravan and camping park set in beautiful secluded woodland with an onsite recreation room and café bar. It is 5 minutes from Westport town and adjacent to Westport Harbour. Caravan and camping packages are available that include family entrance to the Pirate Adventure Park and fishing on Westport House lake.
