Dolphin Watch Carrigaholt
Each two hour dolphin watching boat trip is an opportunity to see and learn about bottlenose dolphins as they interact with each other in their native habitat. Our in-depth knowledge of the dolphins and their environment is based on our dolphin watching experience at the Mouth of the Shannon, which we began in 1992. The Special Area of Conservation is home to about 140 dolphins and calves, the largest resident group in Europe. The rugged and beautiful coastline provides nestling ledges for a variety of seabirds such as fulmars, guillemots and cormorants as well as coastal species such as choughs, peregrine and ravens. The storm beaches attract breeding grey seals and we are often privileged to watch the rapid development of the seal pups in the late summer and autumn. Our beautifully designed passenger boat provides superb viewing for everyone on board. Our hydrophone (underwater microphone) lets you listen to the dolphins sounds when conditions allow. There is also a bar and toilet facilities on board. Your experienced and friendly crew are qualified marina naturalists and are available to answer any questions and look after your comfort and safety. We are that little bit further west, which makes all the difference, as we take you on (probably) the most thrilling adventure of your holiday!
