"There's cowshit in your brain and love in your heart," sings Rufus's sister on this track from I Know You're Married But I've Got Feelings Too. This guy got off lightly, all things considered.

HOT CHIP One Pure Thought EMI ****

A gnarling guitar riff, dreamy vocals and shimmering keyboards; what's not to like here? Incidentally, this is the second track this week - after Cardiff City Supporters' unreviewable FA Cup single Do the Ayatollah - to reference Los del Río's 1995 smash hit The Macarena. Congratulations, señors, your cultural footprint is immense.

LEILA Mettle Warp ***

This intriguing limited-edition 10-inch from Iranian electronic producer Leila Arab runs the gambit from dance to hip-hop to nursery rhyme, taken from the forthcoming album Blood Looms and Blooms.

PANIC AT THE DISCO That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed) Decaydance **

PATD's trademark epic choruses and over-the-top vocals are both still present and correct on this second single from their ambitious Pretty Odd album. "I want to know what everybody knows," pleads frontman Brendon Urie at one point. Oh God, this is awkward. Well Brendon, sometimes when a man and a woman love each other very much . . . You know, on second thought, ask your mother.

REM Hollow Man Warner **

For all the critical acclaim for REM's 14th album, Accelerate, the band must realise that their redemption was only secured by regressing artistically by about two decades. "I'm emptied out/ I'm on repeat," sings Michael Stipe, with what could be interpreted as admirable candour.
