With a match day capacity of 82,300, Ireland’s largest and most impressive sporting venue will again play host to Six Nations rugby this year.
All-Ireland finals have been played on the site of the current stadium since the late 19th century with the GAA officially purchasing the ground in 1913 for the princely sum of £3,500.
Throughout an illustrious history, sports such as boxing and American football have graced the Jones's Road but it wasn't until the momentous decision in 2005 to lift Rule 42 that the GAA authorities opened the doors to so-called 'foreign sports' while Lansdowne Road is being redeveloped.
That move led last year to one of the most important and emotive days in Irish sport when Ireland entertained England at GAA headquarters with the home side running out 43-13 winners. This year, Italy, Scotland and Wales and their supporters will get their first taste of the Croke Park experience.
