Built in 1803 and formerly the Ulster Bank, the three-star guesthouse at Dufferin Coaching Inn & Hall retains many of the historic building’s original features and is situated in the shadows of Killyleagh Castle, one of the oldest inhabited castles in Ireland, and near the shores of Strangford Lough - one of Europe’s richest locations for marine wildlife.
Featuring seven comfortable, unique and well-appointed en-suite guest rooms, Dufferin Coaching Inn offers a unique and welcoming home from home perfect for long or short-term stays, with French and German spoken.
Next door you will find the 120-year old Dufferin Arms, an award winning traditional bar and restaurant serving excellent food from local producers and live traditional music on Saturday afternoons until late evening. The Smugglers Table is also a popular hidden gem in Killyleagh where guests enjoy local cuisine against the gorgeous backdrop of Killyleagh Harbour.
Just a quick 40 minute journey from Belfast, guests will have the chance to experience Northern Ireland’s picturesque countryside and the breath-taking Mourne Mountains, take in outdoor activities including water sport, fishing, golfing, hill walking and more, and sample some of the finest local cuisine with renowned restaurants including Balloo House and The Poacher’s Pocket just a stone’s throw from the guesthouse. Killyleagh also offers easy access to Downpatrick, St. Patrick’s resting place, and historic sites including Nendrum Monastic site.
In 2015 Dufferin Coaching Inn was awarded a Bronze Award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme. The Inn has also been listed in the Bridgestone Guide’s Top 100 places to stay in Northern Ireland.
